The Mosaic penalty for the abomination of homosexual practice was death and being “cut off” (kārēt, the divine curse of extinction for sinner and the sinner’s progeny). God’s justice and holy abhorrence of these unnatural crimes called for severe punishment under the theocracy of Israel.
